Living Streets Aotearoa Minutes of ordinary meeting 26 August 2002, 6.15 pm, Committee Room 1, Wellington City Council Present: 7 at the start of the meeting. Celia Wade-Brown in the chair. Apologies: Ina Smart, Penny Tapper, Minutes: were read by Celia and confirmed. Celia Wade-Brown/ Hutt Corridor Plan: Brent Efford reported on the work being done by the Regional Land Transport Committee on the Hutt Corridor and the main points discussed. It was agreed that Brent, Chris Horne and Alex Dickie would discuss a draft submission and work on a document to be presented by Celia and Alex. Aim to complete within 5 weeks. Chris to co-ordinate a meeting on the draft before the next RLTC. Regional Pedestrian Strategy: it was noted that submissions were now open. Mike Mellor is to lead the drafting of a formal LSA submission, to be presented before 15 October (? Mike to check deadline). Road Safety Reference Group: planning for the first two pedestrian maps (Wellington CBD and Brooklyn) is underway, with an initial meeting with Rawiri held on 22 Aug. Suggestions will be circulated by Rawiri within a few weeks. Rumours of a previous pedestrian map being compiled in the early 1970s are to be checked out by Brent and Celia. It was agreed that Caroline Glass and Mike Mellor would be nominated for the job of on-the-ground checking the CBD map, including connections, slope, paving condition, shelter, walking times (where relevant), etc and noting deficiencies. It was noted that this would potentially be paid out of the WCC Road Safety budget. Celia Wade-Brown/Robert Davies Hillary Commission Grants: Celia reported that the last Hillary Commission 50% grants were to be made shortly. Applications close on 30 August. Two ideas were a CBD treasure hunt and half-hour walks. It was agreed that an application would be made for funding for a booklet covering half-hour CBD walks, in connection with the map project. Celia to action. Communications strategy: Celia reported the offer of Massey University public relations students to devise a public relations and communications strategy for LSA. Agreed that Robert, Penny and Celia to form a Communications Subgroup to meet with Massey students to brief them. The students will then produce a communications plan. Noted that a logo for LSA is required – could be part of the communications strategy package, or commissioned separately. Website: it was agreed to apply for livingstreets.org.nz as a domain name at a cost of $80.The The minutes etc are to be sent to Robert (robert(at)statsresearch.co.nz) for putting on the website, after circulating to the Yahoo group for comment. Chris Horne/Celia Wade-Brown Finance: the following payments were authorised: $50.00 to the auditor for the annual accounts (paid) $100.00 to the Companies Office for the constitution (paid) $80.00 (approximately) for domain name registration Celia Wade-Brown/Caroline Glass Subscriptions totalling $55.00 had been received. Incorporation: it was reported that Living Streets Aotearoa was officially incorporated on 22 August 2002. Mike Mellor was thanked for the hard work he had put into achieving this.
