Media advisory * Lunchtime media: Mike, Alexia & Ralph to plan * Evening launch: Debs to organise (everyone to send contacts to Debs of who should be invited) Decision by 15 February as to whether to go ahead Island Bay Festival Walk · Not accessible · 2.30pm 20 February · Meet at band rotunda · Walk is exploring shortcuts between streets, along steps and zigzags and reserves along the eastern hills of Island Bay "Stepping Out" · 5 Tuesdays in March will be lead lunchtime walks · Celia would like assistance with these National HSC bid · Proposal as part of HSC bid to MoT to help implement Walking and Cycling strategy. · Proposal includes position of Walking Coordinator (Director) · Four projects suggested as initial outcomes/outputs · Recruitment and Management policies drafted for position of Director · Director to be responsible to LSA but contracted to HSC Action: Job description drafted (once finalisation of MoT bid) · Proposal to HSC to include following: a) setting up , strengthening and documenting local walking networks across NZ b) community street audits - more systematic work on these in NZ, complementary to Land Transport NZ work c) pedestrian maps - broad set of pilots including signage, community consultation with different community groups, different styles and evaluation of use/uptake etc. d) collection of information on who's doing what where both for the groups as mentioned in a) and for actual initiatives such as Sport Northland's 10000 steps project. · Alexia moved that (a) through (d) of projects listed make up core of proposal and that Celia, someone from HSC, Mike and Bunny form core of recruitment group.
