Living Streets Aotearoa Minutes of Meeting 27 June 2005 Present: Sue Chamberlain, Celia Wade-Brown, Donna Goodwin, Lily Linton, Mike Mellor, Chris Teo-Sherrell, Alexia Pickering, Debs Moir Apologies: Lisa Bridson, Ralph Chapman, Brent Efford, Brent Skinnon, Robert Davies Financials @ 10/6/05 Balance of $7598.51 Need to become GST registered in order to receive funding via Health Sponsorship Council (HSC). National · No director yet · Likely to employ someone part-time in the interim (not fulfilling Director role but will assist with other aspects of obligations that are to be met under contract) · Celia, Mike and Debs met Monday 27/6/05 with Iain Potter and Brent Skinnon from HSC to discuss how projects will be managed etc · Office is located in Fulbright House, Level 6, 120 Featherston Street Wellington. · HSC will be invoiced for initial payment under contract · Strategic plan to be completed and put onto website Wellington · Memorandum of Understanding between Living Streets WN and Walk Wellington complete (LSA logo to appear on promotional flyers etc) WCC Community Outcomes - enabling community to come up with the outcomes and then WN City Council chooses whether to adopt these. This involves asking community groups as well as selected individuals to look at different areas of the city. - Paula Warren and Ralph Chapman have agreed to be involved (to look at all outcomes). - Donna suggested we could develop core principles that could be shared around NZ e.g. with other LSA associations. - Suggest other walking advocacy groups do the same. - suggest Paula and Ralph share their discussions online to allow other input. Alexia Pickering moved that Paula Warren and Ralph Chapman will take a lead role but allow open discussion online from other members. Seconded by Mike Mellor. Newtown area - Celia has been invited to speak with CCDHB (Capital and Coast District Health Board) representative regarding pedestrian accessibility etc. - CCDHB is developing a travel plan for hospital staff, contractors and patients/users of the hospital. - Need to consider neighbouring suburbs and the access between these and the hospital. - "Safer Roads" is a WCC project which will begin consultation for the Newtown area in October/November. - Potential community street audit. - SPARC "Active Schools" also a current project (e.g. increasing walking to school, walking school buses etc) - WCC to develop a strategic walking plan in October (WN Regional Pedestrian and cycling strategy already established). - LSA to develop a project brief? - Donna suggested that an LSA representative could sit on all of these project areas - Andrew MacBeth has developed a "Best practice on walking and cycling strategy". - Lily is available 1 afternoon/week to volunteer and assist with Newtown walks (i.e. working out suitable routes etc). Road Safety Reference Group - Mike Mellor is involved with this group who meet quarterly. If anyone has any issues that fall within the council area please let Mike know. November Seminar Series (David Engwicht and Rodney Tolley) - Do we join in with another event that is already happening or develop our own? - What are the objectives of this series? - Possibly contract an event coordinator.
