Position title: Auckland Networker
Reporting to: Executive Director, Living Streets Aotearoa
This is a
part-time position, 20 hours a week, based in Auckland. It will involve
working flexible hours, travel around the Auckland Region, and occasional
travel to Wellington. Salary in the range $45,000 - $52,000 per annum pro
rata.
Organisation Profile - Living Streets Aotearoa
Incorporated in 2002, Living Streets Aotearoa promotes
the development of walking-friendly communities throughout New Zealand and the social, environmental, health and economic benefits of walking as a
means of transport and recreation.
Living Streets Aotearoa is led by an Executive Council
and supported by a membership of transport professionals, road safety co-ordinators,
urban designers, health advocates and passionate citizens from around New Zealand. The organisation receives funds and grants from public agencies for specific
project work, and accepts appropriate private sponsorship.
Purpose of Auckland Networker position
Living Streets Aotearoa has received funding from Land
Transport NZ to develop, maintain and strengthen a network of walking user
groups around the country.
The role of the Auckland Networker is to build Living
Streets’ capacity in Auckland, and to develop specific project initiatives. The
Auckland Networker will set up and support walking advocacy groups, and manage
projects, stakeholder relationships, and community and volunteer involvement in
the Auckland Region.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up new walking user groups, first in South and West Auckland, and then in other areas in the Auckland Region where there is expressed
interest
- Support, maintain and develop the walking user groups,
including the existing group in Auckland City, Walk Auckland, with
training and assistance with planning, finding funding, and making
submissions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key walking
stakeholders in the Auckland Region
- Co-ordinate and expand the effective
contribution of Living Streets members and other volunteers to the
organisation's activities including
- Support Living Streets members to write articles and
media releases on walking issues in the Auckland Region
- Encourage Councils in the Auckland Region without a
walking strategy to develop one and to implement it
- Support the Auckland Regional Walking and Cycling
Forum
- Work closely with the Cycling Advocates’ Network to
maximise opportunities for co-operation and collaboration
- Report regularly to the Executive Director on activity
and achievements.

effectively on a range of issues with a variety of people
- The ability to
plan and organise multiple tasks and projects to ensure deadlines are met
and projects completed within budget
