This plan is primarily aligned with the contract between Living Streets Aotearoa and the Health Sponsorship Council, with the key tasks being :-
· Identify and support walking stakeholder groups at a local and regional level.
· Build a nationwide network of walking stakeholder groups.
· Facilitate the flow of information in the walking community.
· Facilitate, collaborate, and provide networking opportunities.
· Support local walking stakeholder groups through mentoring and general training.
We believe that the milestone achievements will also contribute to Living Streets Aotearoa’s Strategic Plan 2015 and the Government’s Walking & Cycling Strategy “Getting There - by Foot , by Cycle”
![]()
A New Zealand where people from all sectors of the community walk and cycle for transport and enjoyment.
Achieving this vision will, in turn, help to ensure a healthier population, more lively and connected communities, and a more affordable, integrated, safe, responsive, and sustainable transport system.
To support the achievement of our vision, three important goals have been identified for Getting there - on foot, by cycle:
· Community environments and transport systems that support walking and cycling
· More people choosing to walk and cycle, more often
· Improved safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
