Minutes of online LSA national committee meeting September 2005
return to admin page.
Celia: For your info 1. These are the milestones I've agreed with Health Sponsorship Council with whom we have a contract that is effectively paying for our national Director starting 17th October. They are drawn from a) our strategic plan and b) the HSC contract. If any committee members wish to see the contract, email me.
2. I am away from 15th Sept to 30th Sept - Switzerland to Walk21 and UK (all own cost) . I will be in email contact but won't have access to all home files etc.
3. On 23rd Sept Kate Shuttleworth is taking up our offer of full time fixed term until mid-January. She will be working on administration, finance, procedures and organising much of our Community Street Audit and Walkability Rating project - with Steve Abley as Technical Expert. This is a second contract with HSC, with LTNZ money.
4. On 17th October, Liz Thomas is starting as LSA Director.
For your confirmation
1. After looking at the ins and outs employment law, Mike Mellor and I have concluded that our arrangements with Liz and Kate are in the nature of an employment relationship, albeit for fixed terms due to funding uncertainties beyond our current contracts. Our relationship with Steve Abley is a contact for services. Initially we had thought all would be contracts for service but the required hours etc and other aspects mean it's likely to be regarded as an employer/employee relationship. We don't want to end up liable for a surprise with PAYE bills at the end of the period therefore we request that you agree to employing both these people. Contract for Liz available on request. Contract with Kate almost ready - schedule of work agreed though. So I hope the following is just a formality!
We have sufficient funds - $120k for national networking and $70k for Street audits project - although a considerable amount for both will be on office, phone, expert services for street audits etc. I realise we need a better budget but we have installed MYOB, Kate is entering data and will be producing monthly reports.
Moved by Celia, 2nded Mike M - LSA employs Kate Shuttleworth as Administrative Executive from 23rd Sept 2005 to 13th January 2006 for 37 hours a week at $.. an hour. gross.
Moved by Celia, 2nded Mike M - LSA employs Liz Thomas as Director from 17th October 2005 to 31st December 2006 for $..... p.a. gross.
2. Debs Moir is working on a Pedestrian Maps project. We are likely to apply to various sources for funding their production and design. This will help produce a Pedestrian Map tool kit as well as the actual pilot maps. Some providers need to be assured that Committees have agreed to apply. We will of course share the specific funding application data but we need an overall agreement.
Moved Celia, 2nded Debs - that LSA committee agrees to apply to one or more of TrustHouse and similar pub charities, Council grants, MoH innovation Fund and SPARC for mapping projects.
PLEASE keep same subject line for votes and comments on this. A majority is sufficient but unanimous would be best!
