Pedometer impact on sustained physical activity behaviour (SPARC)

Pedometers, claimed to be novel motivational tools, have recently been used in several physical activity intervention studies and community campaigns. In this review, the utility and limitations of the pendulum lever arm type of pedometer are described and the motivational impact of these pedometers on increased daily physical activity levels in the community is assessed.
