Much of South Marlborough is upland tussock grassland cut by three major rivers, the Wairau, Awatere and Clarence. There are forested mountains in the north-east at Isolated Hill and along the north bank of the Wairau.

Richmond Town Centre development

Revitalising the heart of Richmond An area called “Sundial Square – The Heart of Richmond” would be developed. It would be for pedestrians only and create a real focal point for the town and a great venue for staging outdoor events.

South Bay reserve development (Kaikoura)

The Department of Conservation (DoC), Kaikoura District Council, Whale Watch, Te Rununga O Kaikoura and Ngai Tahu have jointly prepared the Kaikoura Peninsula Walkway Development Plan. The upgrade of South Bay Recreation Reserve was included in this plan.
