The name of the society is Living Streets Aotearoa Incorporated (referred to in these Rules as the Society).
2 Objects
The Society is established to:
2.1 Promote the social and economic benefits of pedestrian-friendly communities;
2.2 Promote walking as a healthy, environmentally-friendly and universal means of transport and recreation;

Setting up a walking school bus

They are a wonderful way to get children walking, reduce vehicle traffic to school and around school gates, promote health and fitness and help to build a supportive and safe community for all. Here are a few ideas for getting started on setting up a walking school bus in your area.

- The Regional Transport committee (RTC) is responsible for preparing the Regional Land Transport Programme (RLTP) which feeds into the National Land Transport Programme (NLTP).
- The RLTP used to be done annually but since Land Transport Management Act (LTMA)changes in August 08 is now done 3 yearly, so this is the first three year plan
- The RTC prioritises each activity class e.g.

Living Streets Aotearoa is the New Zealand organisation for people on foot, promoting walking-friendly communities. We are a nationwide organisation with local branches and affiliates throughout New Zealand.
We want more people walking and enjoying public spaces be they young or old, fast or slow, whether walking, sitting, commuting, shopping, between appointments, or out on the streets for exercise, for leisure or for pleasure.
