In May and June 2005, four Auckland primary schools, one from each territorial authority in the Auckland region, engaged in a pilot study of the perceived health benefits to children of walking school buses. This report provides an overview of key literature about the health benefits to children of walking to school, as well as methods, findings, and conclusions from the study.
