Today there is an extensive network of tracks and old logging roads in the Akatarawa Forest. Many of the logging roads were formed over 60 years ago and may be overgrown.

Papamoa Hills Cultural Heritage Regional Park (BOP)

The Bay of Plenty’s first regional park, the Papamoa Hills Cultural Heritage Regional Park, opened to the public in 2004 and is located near Te Puke. The 100ha park includes a 45 minute walk up to its summit, which offers sweeping views of the Bay of Plenty coastline.

Living Streets Aotearoa is the New Zealand organisation for people on foot, promoting walking-friendly communities. We are a nationwide organisation with local branches and affiliates throughout New Zealand.
