Durie Hill's special attractions (Wanganui) - Web page
The Durie Hill pedestrian tunnel, located opposite the Whanganui City Bridge, leads to the historic Durie Hill Elevator. Built in 1919, it is the only earthbound elevator in New Zealand and one of only two in the world. A pedestrian tunnel leads 205 metres inside the hill to the elevator which rises 66 metres.| Author(s): | |
